The mobile game company - Niantic, behind the sensational augmented reality game "Pokémon Go," is now issuing permanent bans to gamers who fail to comply with their terms of service.
Though terms of service violations (TOS) vary, these prohibitions appear to be directed at "Pokémon Go" cheaters who rely on Global Positioning System (GPS) spoofing, bots, as well as other software techniques that allow the reality game to be played beyond the realm of the game developer's design parameters.
For instance, Global Positioning System spoofing lets players trick a smartphone into thinking they are located in a different country, allowing them to catch Pokémon that may be more easily found in that area or restricted to certain regions. While bots let a player automate portions of the game, based on the report of The Verge.
In a note posted by Niantic to its website, the developer outlines violations of its TOS that a permanent ban will be the outcome.
The note stated that the prohibition includes, but is not limited to falsifying a gamer's location, making a practical use of emulators, modified or unofficial software and/or accessing "Pokémon Go" clients or backends in an unauthorized way which include through the use of third party software.
Niantic also pointed out that their goal is to come up with a fair, fun and a legitimate game experience for everyone.
However, if a "Pokémon Go" player will get banned for life, that player can still submit an appeal, even though there's no telling whether or not the player's appeal will lead to the ban being lifted or how long it will take the game developer to even consider the appeal, according to BGR.
A player could simply create a new "Pokémon Go" account and continue cheating their way into catching them all, at least until the game developer secures all the bugs that can disable the gameplay.
