Levitating Magician's Secret Behind Pepsi Max London Bus Commercial Revealed (VIDEO)
ByBritish illusionist "Dynamo" had the streets of London in awe of his latest trick, but it was just that, a trick.
Australian news website News.com.au posted a picture of Dynamo's illusion on their Facebook page on Monday with a link below it promising to reveal the secret behind the illusion.
The trick was aired on a Pepsi commercial with Dynamo appearing to levitate while holding onto a bus with just one extended arm. During the ride, many people are seen (from Dynamo's) handheld camera in awe of the magician's feat.
However, News.com.au revealed the arm to be a prosthetic arm with a steel pole inside it that supports Dynamo's weight. His right arm is actually tucked inside his shirt.
The news website reported that many viewers noticed the fingers of the arm never moved during the duration of the video and when he hovers up and down from his position on the bus, no one is around.
Pepsi Co. did not comment on the matter, but they did release a statement in April 2012 when the "Live for Now" campaign was launched.
The release said the campaign would "invite and inspire Pepsi fans to live each moment to the fullest through a breadth of global, pop-culture platforms, including relationships with music and entertainment brand evangelists, digital innovation, epic events and unique partnerships."
In his documentary, "Dynamo: Magician Impossible," Dynamo walked across the River Thames in 2011. His show, sponsored by Pepsi Max, will begin in July.
Dynamo is not the first to use the "phenomena of perception" method in street magic acts. Johan Lorbeer, a German street performer, achieved numerous illusions very similar to Dynamo's. He has appeared to levitate off of buildings' walls with just one extended arm and has stood horizontally off of walls.
In fact, Lorbeer used the same method for his wall stunts that Dynamo did for his bus trick.
