‘I Never Realized I Was A Huge Celebrity Until I Joined Brown,’ Emma Watson Tells ‘Teen Vogue’
ByEmma Charlotte Duerre Watson, the 23-year-old English actress who rose to fame with the Harry Potter series, recently graced the cover of Teen Vogue magazine's upcoming issue in an elegant look. Watson is currently filming a Sofia Coppola film, 'The Bling Ring.'
For the magazine's August issue, Watson reveals how she never realized the effect of her stardom until she joined Brown University, an Ivy League School.
"I think, in a way, I was very protected during 'Harry Potter,' because I was working all the time," Watson mentions in the issue. "I would get in the car, go to the studio, and go home," adding that whenever possible, she would attend school and hang out with friends.
On the other hand, when she enrolled at the university in 2009, Watson had to face the paparazzi and photographers capturing her every move, everyday.
"It sounds stupid, or completely unbelievable, but that was when I realized that I was famous," the star recalls of her collegiate days.
Watson entered the showbiz industry when she was just nine years old. Since she lived in England and kept a low profile, she was unaware of her celebrity status.
Speaking about the 24/7 attention she receives, Watson says, "There are still days when I deal with [fame] horribly and there are days when I deal with it really well."
Watson also talks about her latest venture and her role as Nicki in 'The Bling Ring,' in the latest edition of Teen Vogue. 'Nicki' is a fame-hungry party girl who has thing for robbing.
She said that the shooting was interesting and recalls one vivid incident.
"We were doing a scene in a nightclub and this girl accidentally put her stiletto through my toe! And the crazy thing is, I had so much adrenaline going through my system that I just kept dancing until, finally, I looked down at my foot and saw the blood."
Apart from the Harry Potter franchise, Watson has also starred in 'My Week with Marilyn' and 'The Perks of Being a Wallflower.' She also made a guest appearance in Seth Rogen's comedy film, 'This Is The End.'
