Sony Xperia XR Renders Surfaces Online; The Purported Handset Will Be Launched This Year, Famed Leaker Says!
ByLooks like Sony is gearing up to release another phone. Renders of the Japanese tech firm's upcoming smartphone dubbed the Xperia XR (a.k.a F8331) have surfaced online with reports hinting a September launch.
Sony rolled out an array of devices this year including the new Xperia X line that now encompass three handsets i.e. X Performance, XA and Xperia X. However, these devices failed to grab the attention of many customers, which could be the reason Sony decided to release another handset in the line this year.
Rumor mills have been swirling speculations around a purported Sony phone with model number F8331 for quite a long time, which could be the Xperia XR.
Acclaimed tipster OnLeaks (@OnLeaks) took to his Twitter handle Sunday, August 7 to post a slew of renders of Xperia XR, giving avid Sony Xperia fanatics a glimpse of what Sony's upcoming flagship may look like, TechTimes reported.
If the leaked renders are anything to go by, the upcoming Sony handset will boast design aspects that are found on the smartphones in the Xperia X line. In addition, the leaked renders suggest the Xperia XR will be the first to feature a Dual-LED flash system and USB Type-C port.
The upcoming handset sports a marginally different design as compared to the rest of the Xperia X range, with a flat top and bottom but rounded sides, TechRadar reported.
Although the recently surfaced leaked images that show the Xperia XR in a blue hue do not divulge details regarding hardware specs of the phone, rumors are running rampant that the Xperia XR will boast a Full HD screen measuring either 5.1 inches or 5.3 inches.
According to @OnLeaks, the purported Xperia XR will measure 46.4 x 71.9 x 8.1 mm (5.76 x 2.83 x 0.31 inch), which hint that the device could also come with a 5.5-inch display.
The Xperia XR will reportedly pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor under the hood, coupled with 3 GB of RAM. Although several smartphone manufacturers have rolled out their flagship phones with 6 GB of RAM, consumers would be hoping that the Xperia XR packs at least 4 GB of RAM for improved performance.
In terms of cameras, the upcoming Sony mobile phone could feature a 23 MP rear-facing camera and a 13 MP front shooter for the selfie addicts.
All smartphones in the Sony Xperia series feature a microSD card slot, so chances are Sony will include that card slot in the purported Xperia XR as well.
The upcoming Sony mobile phone will run Android 6.0 Marshmallow straight out of the box.
Sony has remained mum regarding the Xperia XR's launch date and have neither denied nor confirmed the rumors. However, multiple reports indicate Sony could take the wraps off its new device during the upcoming 2016 IFA at Berlin that kicks off September 4.
