LG V20 Release Date Confirmed For September; First Leak Of Specs For LG's Next Flagship Handset Surfaces Online!
ByLG has announced that its next flagship smartphone dubbed, the LG V20, is slated to hit the store shelves in September and will run on Google's impending mobile OS, Android 7.0 Nougat.
LG released a couple of flagship smartphones last year, the LG G4 and LG V10. The South Korean smartphone manufacturer has already rolled out its flagship phone of this year, the LG G5, and recently confirmed the LG V20 for September.
Nevertheless, LG's announcement of second flagship handset for 2016 is hardly surprising. On July 28, the company divulged its financial results for Q2 hinting the debut of a brand-new V series smartphone soon.
The release of an all-new V series coupled with sales of mass-tier K and X series models are said to boost the business unit's performance for the upcoming quarter, according to a blog post on LG Newsroom.
Aside from confirming that the next-gen V20 will run Android 7.0 Nougat, LG has remained mum regarding any other details of the impending flagship.
However, if the LG V20 launches in September, the device will square off against Apple iPhone 7 and Apple iPhone 7 Plus. Besides, the Samsung Galaxy S7, Samsung Galaxy S7 edge and the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 are also slated to hit the store shelves this year.
In other news, the first leak of specs for the LG V20 has surfaced online. LG's upcoming device will feature a 5.5-inch in-cell screen with a 1080 x 1920 display. The last year's LG V10 featured a 5.7-inch display with a 1440 x 2560 resolution. The LG V20 will be powered by a Snapdragon 820 SoC with a quad-core CPU and the Adreno 530 GPU. The device will pack 3 or 4 GB of RAM. In terms of internal storage, it will come in both 32 GB and 64 GB variants featuring a 256 GB capacity microSD slot. It's worth noting that there is no indication of the secondary screen that made an appearance on last year's V10, Phone Arena reported.
The rear camera is anticipated to receive a bit of a bump to 20-megapixel, with an 8-megapixel front shooter for the selfie addicts. The V10 featured a dual-camera setup in front, but the recent leak did not divulge any information on the subject. The device will reportedly pack a mammoth 4000mAh battery and a Type-C USB port.
Taking into consideration that LG is gearing up to release the V20 next month; more leaks for the device can be expected to surface online.
