A study entitled 'Pokémon Go could ease Type 2 diabetes burden' was published in Diabetes Care previously - stating that playing the AR app and joining the craze could be a solution to fight obesity.

The AR app has created a hype in gaming and according to scientists, it can bring advantage for Type 2 diabetes treatment. Researchers at University of Leicester published a study that stated "Pokemon GO" as an 'innovative solution' to tackle down obesity problems and diseases.
Pokemon GO requires players to walk around, do stunts to battle and collect monsters. As they need to go to places in the real world to find the creatures, they must leave the couch and embark miles away.
Dr. Tom Yates from Sedentary Behaviour and Health, University of Leicester, said that currently there are five million of people in England with high risk of developing Type 2 diabetes. And the most common cause is the lack of physical activity. "Pokemon GO" is said to be the suitable game that could get people off the sofa and walk.
Walk - the cheapest form of exercise
Researchers stated that walking is human's best exercise. It is an easy activity often underrated - but it can have a huge impact on someone's health. Experts recommend walking at least 2.5 hours in a week to fight obesity. Another study also points on the importance of breaks in sedentary lifestyle like prolonged sitting. And with Pokemon GO app being played to hunt monsters; then exercising will not feel like a burden at all, The Sun reported.
