Apple Olympic Watch Bands: Tech Company To Sell Olympic Watch Bands As Apple Watch Sales Flops Big Time? [VIDEO]
ByThe Apple Watch sales has flopped big time, according to the latest report of market research and analysis firm, IDC. In order to save the day, the tech company is selling a limited edition of the Apple Olympic-themed Watch Bands.
The limited edition Olympic-themed Apple watch bands will be sold to those who will book to Rio, according to GQ. The bands are just the same as the woven nylon bands that was first introduced this year.
What makes the Olympic-themed bands special is its design features different country flags. As of now, the available flags (design for watch bands) are Germany, France, Japan, Mexico, Canada, Chile, Brazil, the U.K., the U.S., the Netherlands, New Zealand, South Africa, Brazil, and Australia.
Aside from being available to those who will book to Rio, the watch bands will be difficult to find because Apple is going to sell the watches at the Apple Store in Village Mall in Barra da Tijuca, and it costs R$329 or around $100. The said Apple store will sell straps, which will be available in August.
Meanwhile, the recent report of Apple Watch has dropped 55% in the second quarter of 2016, in a report by IDC. According to the firm, the total sales of Apple in Q2 is 1.6 million units, while last year, they sold 3.6 million.
Aside from Apple, IDC's research shows that the entire smartwatch market is falling. Although some companies shipped 3.5 million smartwatches over Q2 2016, Apple is still dominating in the market as it has 47% market share.
In March, the tech company has made a move to make their product popular by dropping the of the 38mm model that originally cost $349, and now, it only costs $299.
