Mount Pleasant police have arrested five people for allegedly robbing a 22-year-old Central Michigan University senior Justin Brass at gunpoint Feb. 2. Adam Alwood, 19, Taylor Braman, 19, Timothy Hunter, 18, Anton Jones, 19, and Shaquin Patterson, 18, were taken into custody linked to the armed robbery on S. Main Street near May Street, just north of the campus.
Isabella County Trial Court charged all the suspects with three counts each: armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery and assault with a dangerous weapon.
According to court documents, a pickup truck pulled up on the curb as Brass was walking south on Main Street late at night. He heard people run behind him and was hit on the back of the head before he could turn around. Brass was told to hand over all his personnel belongings while one of the men pointed a snub-nosed revolver at him.
He was carrying a wallet with $20 in cash, along with credit cards. Jones, Hunter and Braman confessed about taking part in the robbery while Patterson rubbished the allegations. Braman told the police that Patterson hit Brass with a bottle.
Jones revealed that the group decided to steal when they ran out for money to purchase more alcohol. Earlier, the group decided to rob a woman with a purse and a laptop computer who was also walking down the Main Street. They had to leave her because she entered a house.
