NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 would not let AMD's RX 480 to dominate the scene for cheap and Virtual Reality- (VR) ready graphics card market. NVIDIA maintained GeForce GTX 1060's launch silent until it surprised the entire gaming world for its arrival. Insiders believed that this unexpected launch was due to the pressure laid by AMD since GeForce GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 are nowhere close to the formers price range.

Thus, NVIDIA seemed to be forced in launching the GeForce GTX 1060 to counter the current impact of the AMB RX 480. True or not, the GeForce GTX 1060 is quite more interesting since it emulates the capacity of its more expensive predecessors but still rocking a more affordable price, Vine Report said.

Meanwhile, NVIDIA is actually not advertising GeForce GTX 1060 as a follow up to the GTX 1080 and 1070 even carrying the same line through their products names, The Verge wrote. It is presumed to be the next generation GTX 980 with both of them having the same performance. And the only differences they have are the price and GTX 1060's efficiency since it functions with the latest microarchitecture used to manufacture it.

GeForce GTX 1060 Specs

GeForce GTX 1060 is a video card customized for VR compatibility. It was also alleged to have 1,280 CUDA cores and a hugely enhanced 1.7 GHz clock speed, The Verge added. Additionally, it will arrive with a base 6GB of GDDR5 memory.

NVIDIA's unconventional move in releasing the new affordable GeForce GTX 1060 is the best move for the company since AMD's RX480 is taking over the entry-level graphics cards market right now. The company is positive that it will be enough to directly clash head-to-head against the RX 480.

NVIDIA will put its GeForce GTX 1060 in a global release on July 19 at a very affordable price of $249. The launch also offers a limited Founders Edition for $299.
