A Lakewood college student, who was gunned down in his home Thursday, has been identified by the Los Angeles County Coroner, reported the Long Beach Press-Telegram.

Cyrus H. Alva, 19, died on the scene from being shot in his home he shared with his older brother.

The L.A. County Sheriff's office has identified two suspects in the fatal shooting, both Hispanic men. Alva was standing in front of his home when the two men confronted the teenager.

One of the suspects allegedly shot Alva at close range and the two drove off in a car, reportedly a 1990's white, 4-door Toyota Camry, KTLA reported.

Lt. Dave Coleman, Sheriff's homicide bureau, said Alva was shot within 10 feet in the front yard of his home on Arbor road.

Friends of Alva told the Press-Telegram that he was a engineering student at Long Beach City College.

"He was a friend of the community, everyone loved him," one friend told KTLA. "We all feel very bad. I just saw him yesterday."

Tom Clark, a neighbor to Alva, said he had seen the two brothers arguing in front of the house and that they had run-ins with authorities before.

Investigators confirmed police had visited the home before, but would not go into any detail as to why. Alva was not involved in any gangs, investigators believe, so it is still not evident that the suspects targeted Alva.

One Arbor road resident, Cheryl Charlton, who has lived on the road since 1975, was in complete shock over the shooting.

"This scares the tar out of me," she told the Press-Telegram. "This has never happened here."

"He was a good boy, he was good for anyone," his mother told KTLA.
