The gunman in the Dallas shooting incident was distressed regarding the recent police shootings, Dallas City police chief said that the suspect wanted to kill white people, especially white law enforcers - which resulted the death of the 5 Dallas police officers.
Dallas police identified the gunman as the 25 year old Micah Johnson, who was killed by the police Friday morning, based on the report of NBC News.
Mike Rawlings, Dallas City Mayor, stated that based on the investigation, Johnson was alone during the ambush of 12 Dallas police officers. But, in the immediate aftermath of the tragic incident, officials claimed there were two snipers.
Mayor Rawlings said that they believe now that Dallas City is safe, and the gunman is dead, and people can move on to healing.
The gunman was a United States military veteran who had served in Afghanistan, Johnson told negotiators that he got disturbed by the previous police shootings and he wanted to kill white police officers, according to NPR.
The slain Dallas police officers include Brent Thompson, a Dallas Area Rapid Transit officer; the father of two children and a U.S. Navy veteran - Patrick Zamarripa; Michael Krol (who worked hard to become a law enforcer); the very joyful Dallas Officer Lorne Ahrens; and police officer Michael Smith who joined the department in 1989, CNN reported.
However, when the authorities searched the suspect's home on Friday, the Dallas Police Department said in a statement that they discovered ammunition, ballistic vests, bomb-making materials, a personal journal of combat tactics and rifles.
Three other suspects were arrested linked to the Dallas shooting, but the law enforcers would not name them or even a hint of why the three other people were being held, according to NY Times.
In addition, seven police officers and two civilians were wounded during the shooting incident. The Police Department claimed that 12 Dallas officers had returned fire during the gun battle.
