In an effort to honor his Latino roots, Charlie Sheen will go by his birth name Carlos Estevez in an upcoming movie, TMZ reported.

This will mark the fist time the "Anger Management" and former "Two and a Half Men" star will use his birth name in his acting career. Sheen is the son of famous actor Martin Sheen, whose birth name is Ramon Antonio Gerardo Estevez.

The movie is called "Machete Kills", due out Sept. 13, and it features Sheen as the U.S President, according to IMDB.com. It is the second film in a trilogy revolving around lead character Machete.

Charlie took the stage name of his father Martin, who has enjoyed a successful acting career himself.

DBtechno.com reported that 10 years ago Martin Sheen said his greatest regret in life was changing his name from the one given to him at birth. He said he felt the name change disappointed his father.

"I started using Sheen, I thought I'd give it a try, and before I knew it, I started making a living with it and then it was too late," Martin said. "In fact, one of my great regrets is that I didn't keep my name as it was given to me. I knew it bothered my dad."

Martin Sheen has never legally changed his surname from Estevez and he named his two sons Emilio and Carlos. Emelio is also an actor and has kept his birth name throughout his career.

There is no word yet if Charlie Sheen plans to continue using his birth name beyond the production and release of the upcoming film.

Sheen is part of an ensemble cast made up mostly of Hispanic actors, as is the style of director Robert Rodriguez, who is known for his pride in his Latino roots. The film features Danny Trejo reprising his role as Machete, Mel Gibson, Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriguez, Sofia Vergara, Amber Heard, Antonio Banderas, Vanessa Hudgens, Cuba Gooding Jr. and IMDB.com even lists Lady Gaga on its list of cast members.
