Seton Hill University has named Courtney Tamasitis as the new head coach of the women's lacrosse team. The appointment comes after the university's former coach Kristina Quigley was killed in a bus crash in March along with the driver on the way to a game in Millersville on the Pennsylvania Turnpike near Carlisle.

The university cancelled the remaining 13 games after the death of the 30-year-old coach.

The Griffins will be joining the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference in 2013-14 .

This is Tamasitis' second stint as Seton Hill's coach. Both the coaches were teammates during their playing days at Duquesne.

"I could not be happier to be back at Seton Hill and be back with the team that I am so proud to have coached before and now coach again," said Tamasitis. "With the loss of Kristie (a good friend and teammate of mine), I feel it is my responsibility to continue to instill the team qualities she believed in. I want to continue to build the legacy she has left behind and continue to move the program in a successful and positive direction. "

During her initial stint with the university, Tamasitis had four student-athletes in All-East Coast Conference and had five ECC Players of the Week. She is credited to have led the team to the program's best record of 9-7, including a 4-3 mark in conference play during the 2010 season.
