St. Joseph's College (SJC) Connecticut has introduced a new Bachelor of Science in Hospitality and Tourism Management to its existing list of undergraduate programs at both its Brooklyn and Long Island campuses for the 2013 fall semester.
"We are excited to offer the new HTM program at St. Joseph's College, which embodies the civic mission of the College by serving the needs of our students, community and region as a whole," said SJC President S. Elizabeth Hill. "Our intention is to offer a dynamic program that trains our students in careers that meet pressing employment needs in the New York metropolitan area, which will enable local businesses in these fields to generate sustained economic opportunity and growth."
The B.S. degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management will be focusing on three core fields - Tourism, Hotel Management and Health Care Hospitality - and its subareas such as eco-tourism, agri-tourism, integration of hotel management with sustainability, and the principles of hospitality among others.
The lectures and faculty members will also debate on the importance of reliable hospitality as a vital factor in operating a successful venture.
The program is equipped with internship opportunities in their respective fields, to provide students with a practical experience before their graduation. It has been designed in a way to suit a wide range of career opportunities currently being offered in the New York region.
The establishment of the new program comes after SJC's Institute for Hospitality and Tourism Management inception, earlier this year.
