Despite its strong overall presence in the technology domain, Microsoft has surprisingly failed to leave its mark in the smartphone domain.
That being said, Microsoft's has always been considered in the league of other tech giants such as Apple and Samsung as far as handheld devices are concerned, and judging by the initial reactions to the company's Surface Tablets, it looks like Microsoft may have finally found a much-needed entry into the coveted market.
Still kept concealed, the Microsoft Surface Phone is slated to release in March next year. As a matter of fact, the device is yet to be confirmed.
At this point, tech enthusiasts are basically counting on a remark made by Microsoft's CMO, Chris Capossela - who pointed at a requirement for a "spiritual equivalent" of a mobile phone in the Surface array, MNR Daily reported.
No prizes for guessing, Capossela comments immediately stirred conversations among fans that eventually led to speculations hinting that the Microsoft Surface Phone (codenamed Juggernaut Alpha) has long been in the making.
The Redmond-based tech firm, on the other hand has remained mum and has neither confirmed nor denied the rumors cantering on the purported Microsoft Surface Phone. Obviously until Microsoft give these rumors a nod; it is wise to take these speculations with a pinch of salt.
If rumors running rampant are anything to go by, Microsoft is leaving no stone unturned in giving the upcoming Microsoft Surface Phone all tools it would need to compete with the likes of iPhones and Samsung Galaxy series.
Microsoft Surface Phone - Variants
The Microsoft Surface Phone will be available in three different variants:
- The lowest variant will reportedly support 4 GB of RAM and will come with a 64 GB storage capacity.
- The middle variant, on the other hand will pack 6 GB of RAM coupled with 128 GB of storage.
- The highest end will pack an impressive 8 GB of RAM and will offer a mammoth 512 GB in terms of internal storage, The Country Caller reported.
The rumored devices will run the most recent Microsoft 10 Mobile OS, and mirror design elements of the Microsoft Surface Pro Tablets.
Rumors hint the Microsoft Surface Phone will pack an impressive 21 MP Carl Zeiss rear camera and a 10 MP front snapper for the selfie-addicts.
But that's not all, if rumors proved true, the device will boast a built-in QWERTY keyboard, and a kickstand that bears a striking resemblance to the one found in the Surface Tablets.
