ByJon Snow wins the "Battle of the Bastards" by defeating Ramsay Bolton and retaking control of Winterfell in the ninth episode of "Game Of Thrones" Season 6. Alas, Jon had to do all the fighting without the help of his most trusted companion: Ghost.
Ghost was not scene in the entire run of "Game Of Thrones" penultimate episode. The search for Ghost came along during Sansa Stark's confrontation with Ramsay where she used his Hounds to take his own life. Imagine how it would turn out if Ghost will battle against the hounds and tear them apart. However, that would be too cruel to feature animals beefing against one another.
Yet, caution on animal cruelty is not the reason for Ghost absence. When asked a propos Ghost's absence, Liam Cunningham (Davos Seaworth) said leaving the direwolf behind was a strategic move by Jon which he cited, o bviously, a big battle like that is not a place for a direwolf, Tech Insider reported.
Meanwhile, "Game Of Thrones" Director Miguel Sapochnik said it was more about budgetary concern, TIMES posted. He added was there in spades originally. But the direwolf's presence equates too incredibly time consuming and expensive to bring to life. In due course, the team had to choose between the direwolf and Wun Wun, so the dog bit the dust.
"Battle of the Bastards" was a complex and expensive episode to produce. A typical "Game Of Thrones" episode takes one up to two weeks to shoot but he Sunday's episode was shot for 25 days, Entertainment Weekly reported. It also included 600 crew members, 500 extra casts, 70 horses, and 25 stunt people. Its price tag could stretch out somewhere between $11 million and $25 million.
In the end, Wun Wun gave up his life in their quest to take back Winterfell. Although its seriously heart-melting, it also save Ghost which brothers Summer and Shaggydog both died in Season 6.
