PSY, the South Korean rapper and YouTube sensation, gave a talk Thursday at the prestigious Harvard University about his rise to sudden fame and how it happened.

PSY, 36, whose real name is Park Jae-sang, addressed a 1000 strong crowd of students. He attributed his popularity to the universal power of music, according to the news reports.

He said, "Music makes everyone united. Something beyond language. I'm so proud (at my performances). The crowd doesn't know what the lyrics are about, but they look so happy!", reported the Evening Telegraph.

PSY studied management at Boston University and claimed that he was not very academically inclined.

The University had invited PSY to participate in a discussion about the role of digital media in creating global cultural phenomenon, of which he is a perfect example.

PSY said that he was himself shocked at the popularity of his video 'The Gangnam Style.' The YouTube video has garnered more than 1.5 billion views. His next video 'Gentleman' already has more than 300 million views.
