Terry Boyd is suing Morehouse College 33 years after graduating when the college falsely claimed that he had not met the graduation requirements.

Boyd's attorney Marsha Mignott questions that if the college felt that his client did not meet the graduation requirements, why did it give him a diploma at the time.

Boyd was forced to file a lawsuit after a company he had applied for a job at two years ago experienced a problem verifying his graduation details from Morehouse.

He was eventually rejected after the employer found his college degree as invalid. The university informed the company that Boyd failed an Organic Chemistry class after securing a D grade.

In his defense, Boyd claims to have passed the class, and that somebody might have changed his grade from C to D.

The class was supposed to be prerequisite course for a Chemistry class, which he testified to have passed with a C grade.

Mignott finds the college behavior to be strange, because Boyd was permitted to take Chemistry 2 course even though he failed the prerequisite Chemistry 1 class.

A court appearance for the case has been scheduled in October.

In a counterattack, the university is now countersuing Boyd and wants the diploma to be returned. They argue that he literally stole the diploma, which describes an unlawful possession of a degree.

"They can't have it back, I earned it. I really feel disappointed in Morehouse as far as the administration is concerned," Boyd said. He further says that he worked hard for four years to earn this diploma.
