Bouncing back from a Game 1 drubbing, the Texas A&M Aggies trounced the Texas Christian University (TCU) Horned Frogs 7-1 in Game 2 of the NCAA Super Regional Baseball Tournament on June 11, Saturday.

With the win, Texas forced a deciding Game 3 against its old regional rival in Blue Bell Park on Sunday night, Dallas News reported. the winner will earn a slot in the College World Series.

In a performance that was leagues from their poor showing in Game 1, the Aggies quickly started with four home runs and never looked back.

Center fielder J.B. Moss started things going by blasting an opening home run off TCU pitcher Mitchell Traver. The Aggies then added two more home runs and three more hits for a 3-0 score. After that, they never looked back.

Aggies star pitcher and senior Kyle Simonds said he was pleased with the way his teammates rose to the challenge. He said the win transformed his team from one that was worried about elimination to one bent on winning the NCAA Super Regional Baseball Tournament in Game 3.

Simonds allowed the Horned Frogs a just a single run and four hits over 7 and 2/3 innings. The last game of his career at Olsen Field, he also struck out six batters to the joy of the home crowd.

For their part, the Horned Frogs said they hope to put the loss behind them and move on.

Describing his team as resilient, TCU catcher Evan Skoug said they will definitely bounce back in Game 3, ESPN reported.

This will be third time in as many years that TCU will play a Game 3. In their 2015 edition of the NCAA Super Regional Baseball Tournament, the Horned Frogs eked out a 5-4 win over the Aggies in an exciting rubber match-a scenario Texas A&M wants turned around this time.
