Shawn Johnson first appeared in the limelight as the 16-year-old gymnast who grabbed the gold medal in the Olympics 2008 for balance beam. Then there she was at "Dancing with the Stars" alongside Mark Ballas in 2009. Or you may recall her appearance on "The Apprentice" last year.

Being in her kind of sport, Johnson was required to maintain a very "strict diet." Johnson explained that gymnastics has its own typecasts, standards and traditions that were engrained in the process. There is a tradition concerning what gymnasts should and should not eat which is strictly no carbs but only fruit and vegetables and very lean protein. And unfortunately, there is no treats. This sounds really tough but in the long run it surely pays off. Still doubting? Look at Johnson. She looks incredible and performs equally amazing feats in her career, Hollywood Life posted.

According to Shawn, gymnasts are often responsible for their personal diets because the team does not have counseling on what to eat. Therefore, gymnasts' diet is not fixed by any means, HL added. There is also no nutritionist working with the USA team. It is aesthetics and that is what a judge wanted to see. Therefore, in their mind, they focus on what they can do? What else can they work on or perfect assure that the judge would like what they will be looking at. With all that she has learned, Shawn has become a personal trainer who is expert in nutrition.

Through her accomplishments and looks, Johnson at the ripe old age of 24 has become an American sweetheart. This coming summer, she is returning to the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro not to compete but as a commentator and athletes' interviewer. Speaking of the Rio Olympics, who could Johnson be rooting for? Most probably her choice comes from the US gymnastics team which she singles out 17-year-old Simone Biles, who is for her "one of the best gymnasts in history," Yahoo Beauty reported.
