University of Arkansas (UA) baseball coach Dave Van Horn has removed pitcher Thomas Altimont from the Razorback team following his arrest for kidnapping and assault.

"After reviewing all the information, I've decided to dismiss Thomas from our baseball program," coach Van Horn said. "We have and will continue to hold our student-athletes to a high standard and any inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated."

Altimont, 21, was arrested by the Fayetteville police Friday morning for holding a woman against her will and assaulting her in an apartment on South Conway Place.

After receiving a disturbance call at around 1:25 a.m., police officers reached the location and heard screams coming from the house.

They broke open the locked door and found Altimont over a woman, who was weeping on the bed. He was made to leave the bedroom after refusing initially to move out of the room

Morgan McCombs, 18, told police that a friend had picked her up from her dorm and then they drove to pick up Altimont from a bar. Later, McCombs and Altimont got into an argument.

When they reached Altimont's apartment, McCombs refused to get out of the car. Then, Altimont pulled her from the vehicle, put her over his shoulder and carried her to his second-floor apartment. When he was unlocking the door, she tried to escape, but, Altimont caught her and dragged her into his apartment.

Altimont, a junior right-hander, was 1-0 in five appearances this season.
