Troy University has suspended about half a dozen students - including at least one football player for engaging in multiple fights.
The non-scholarship football student-athlete has also been suspended from the team.
"His career here is in jeopardy, and his college career here is in jeopardy," Troy football coach Larry Blakeney, said.
Blakeney said that the fights seem to be a fall out from a party held last week.
The university officials, apparently, had to separate two groups of male students during one of the fights, Thursday.
"Today in the dining hall, they confronted each other at lunch. Words were exchanged and one thing led to another and a punch was thrown. Once that punch was thrown, about seven guys got into an altercation," Dean of Student Services, Herb Reeves said.
Reeves said that the students, currently under temporary suspension, had indulged in several altercations since last week. They have been banned from the campus pending a university hearing.
Troy University Police Chief John McCall said that the students did not sustain any injuries and no criminal charges have been brought against them as of now.
