Brian Woodard, throws coach at Monmouth College, has been named the 2013 Midwest Region's Women's Assistant Coach of the Year by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for the second time in arrow.

Woodard, who is currently in his 16th season as an assistant coach, has been recognized for guiding a pair of athletes to score 16 of the university's 24 points at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships in Naperville.

Allison Devor was the runner-up in the weight throw and finished seventh in the shot put while graduate Raven Robinson was placed third in the shot put.

The Fighting Scots, as the Monmouth athletics team is known, finished the season in fifth position, highest ranking so far in the college's history.

"Year in and year out, Coach Woodard does an outstanding job with our throwers," said head coach Roger Haynes. "He has a very good eye for detail and that's evident by the way his throwers steadily improve throughout their careers. It's a fitting honor for him to be recognized by his peers."

Woodard is a 997 Monmouth graduate.
