Akshay Rajshekar, an 18-year-old freshman from the University of Maryland, was arrested Monday on child pornography charges for the second time in four months after being caught in an undercover Craigslist sting operation.
Rajshekar, allegedly responded to a Craigslist ad posted by the FBI and Metropolitan Police's Child Exploitation Task Force.
On March 18 he began communicating with the father of a 12-year-old girl, who told him he was interested in incest and was willing to share his young daughter with another man.
"Wow, that's hot.. I really want to experience what it is like. I have been trying to meet other [pedophiles] online with similar interest...it's hard as hell," Rajshekar responded to the post
During the operation Rajshekar was unaware that he was actually conversing with a police detective.
After chatting for several days he sent six images of child pornography in a file called 'Kindergarten' to the undercover officer.
Rajshekar then, set up a Monday meeting in the district to have sex with the fictitious young girl.
However, he was arrested when he showed up at the prearranged location. Police then confiscated his backpack, which contained a laptop and condoms.
Rajshekar is currently being held without bond on federal charges.
He is charged for transporting child pornography and traveling with the intent to have sex with a minor. If convicted, he could face a maximum of 40 years in prison.
Rajshekar's hearing is scheduled for April 4 before Judge Deborah Robinson.
On the other hand, he has not yet faced any punishment from the university. The University of Maryland suspends a student if he/she is considered a threat to the community.
Earlier, Rajshekar was indicted and arrested in November for possession and distribution of child pornography, but he was released on bond and permitted to return to the university.
