Lindenwood University has hiked the cost of undergraduate students' room, board, tuition and fees by $760 or 3.4 percent.
The hike comes in response to the rising expenses faced by the university. Lindenwood President James Evans said that the management will bear the rest of the increased operating costs.
Cost for traditional undergraduate resident students at the university will go up to $22,940 per year from last years' $22,180.
Tuition for undergraduate students enrolled in the universities' accelerated evening program will be raised by 4.1 percent to $3,186 per quarter while graduate students' fee is to be hiked by 3.9 percent to $3,852 per quarter.
On the other hand, the cost for nine-hour cluster of undergraduate courses will increase to $3,186 per quarter, a raise of $126 beginning summer 2013 quarter, while the cost of nine-hour cluster of graduate courses will be boosted to $3,852, which is a hike of $144.
The board of directors approved the proposed fee increases early March.
Lindenwood University, established in 1827, is an independent liberal arts university offering more than 130 undergraduate and graduate degree programs.
Its current enrolment features 17,351 traditional and non-traditional students - 10,000 students at the main campus and 4,500 living on-campus; 2,600 students in LU-Belleville and 5,000 have enrolled in various distance learning courses at Greater St. Louis.
The university also comprises of 30 percent of out-of-state and foreign students for undergraduate programs.
Apart from the regular courses, the university also offers a number of extracurricular activities such as athletics, honor societies, clubs, student organizations, fraternities and sororities.
