The 2016 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Baseball Teams were unveiled on Thursday, May 5.

Kentucky seniors Dustin Beggs and Dorian Hairston were named to the District 2 team.

The organization also announced UL softball players, junior second baseman Haley Hayden and junior outfielder Kassidy Zeringue, have been named to the CoSIDA 2015-16 Academic All-District 6 team.

The teams honors the nation's ace student-athletes for their perfectly blended performances in athletics as well as in the classroom, reports TheAdvertiser.

UL coach Michael Lotief said, "Haley and Kassidy represent our program, but all of our kids strive for excellence in the classroom."

"We want to thank their professors and the University's support staff for pushing them, encouraging them and continuing to expect the very best out of them. We are so proud of our University for the academic opportunities they provide to these wonderful kids," Lotief added.

Hayden, who a season ago was the Ragin' Cajuns' representative on the 2014-15 Academic All-District 6 team, received her second Academic All-District honor of her career.

The West Monroe, an exercise science major (pre-physical therapy) carries 3.70 grade average. Hayden registered an impressive 3.5-plus GPA in six of seven semester, two of them, she registered a remarkable 4.0. She was also a member of the Sun Belt Conference Commissioner's List with 3.5-4-0 GPA in 2013-14 and Honor Roll with 3.0-3.49 GPA the following year.

Hayden, a three-year starter and two-time first team All-Sun Belt performer, has hit safely in an unbelievable 34 out of 44 games. With nine different hitting streaks, Hayden has gone entire season without successive hitless games.

No prizes for guessing, she leads the squad with a staggering 15 multiple-hit games, nine out of which came in Sun Belt play.

According to another related report on Seminoles, Florida State baseball's Mike Compton was selected to the 2016 CoSIDA Academic All-District IV Team for the third time in his career. Compton was given this off-the-field honors on Thursday, May 5.

Compton, a native Branson, Mo., has not failed to impress off the field either.

Earning his bachelor's degree in applied economics in the fall of 2014, and finishing with a 3.92 GPA, Compton pursued a master's degree in business marketing and maintained a 3.86 GPA in the master's program.

He has been equally impressive on the field boasting 5-3 overall with a 4.53 ERA in 11 starts in 2016.

Three of the aforementioned victories came in Atlantic Coast Conference play against Georgia Tech on March 11, Boston College on April 1 and Notre Dame on April 23.

First-team Academic All-District honorees move forward to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, where later this month selection for the first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be made.

CoSIDA has bequeathed Academic All-American recognition to male and female athletes in Divisions I, II as well as III of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) encompassing all NCAA championship sports and NAIA athletes.
