Taylor Michael Groff, 19, a communications media student of Indiana University of Pennsylvania has been charged for raping a woman at an off-campus residence, March 8, in Indiana Borough.
Police, who were called to S. 7th Street around 11:30 p.m., interviewed the sexual assault victim and several witnesses. The alleged victim was then taken to the Indiana Regional Medical Center.
A preliminary hearing on rape, aggravated assault and indecent assault charges before the Indiana District Justice Guy Haberl has been scheduled on April 4. Groff was released on a $50,000 unsecured bond.
Michelle Fryling, the IUP spokeswoman, told San Francisco Chronicle that Groff will face the university disciplinary process because of the criminal charges slapped against him. The student might be told to undertake certain education programs or may be expelled for short duration from the campus.
Police did not reveal whether the victim was also an IUP student.
