Brian Jansen, 44, a Bethune-Cookman University athletics professor in the physical education department, was arrested last week for trying to hook up with a 14-year-old girl for sex.

This arrest by Daytona Beach police was part of an investigation, wherein Jansen was unaware that he was actually interacting and setting up the sexual encounter with an undercover female detective.

Through online chatting, he presented himself as a 38-year-old man and is said to have discussed his favourite sexual positions with the girl and asked if she preferred to be with an older man.

On the day of arrest, Jansen communicated online to the detective an unknown meeting location to have sex.

When the detective explained her fears of getting pregnant, he convinced her he'd had a vasectomy and would use protection. Then, both of them decided on a place and time.

He was taken into custody from the location when he arrived at the agreed time and place in his purple Dodge minivan.

When he was caught, Jansen cried, 'I knew it, I knew it. My life is over. I made a stupid decision.'

After the arrest, he admitted to using his cell phone, Internet and personal laptop in his office to arrange the meeting for sex.

Jansen has been suspended without pay from his job pending the outcome of the external and internal investigation and has been charged for using a two-way device to seduce a child and travelling to lure a child to commit a felony. He posted a $30,000 bail, last Friday.
