Two lucky Saint Louis University students, junior Molly Rippinger and senior Kristen Miano, will serve as a Bon Jovi crew members for a day learning the ins and outs of tour life when their concert, 'Because We Can,' comes to their city, March 13, at Scottrade Center.
Both these students were nominated by Professor Avis Meyer to take part in the concert program.
The students will assist in either ticketing, fan club, VIP handling, security, marketing or PR.
Miano is excited to get into the photography pit at the concert.
"You can't get much closer to the action than that. I occasionally take photos for the University News newspaper, so this is a dream come true for me, as an amateur photographer," Miano said.
Miano grew up listening to Bon Jovi songs and has memorised the words to most of his songs. She adds that it would be stupidity on her part to let an opportunity such as this to pass by.
On the other hand, Rippinger, a journalism and media student at SLU is thrilled to be exposed to a side of the industry that she claims to be a stranger to. Through this opportunity she will able to discover all the logistics that go into organising one of the largest-grossing concert tours in the world.
To top it all, watching Bon Jovi perform up close will be the highlight of her day.
Mike Savas, management coordinator for the Bon Jovi "Because We Can" tour, said that the group was looking out for student leaders making a positive impact on their community and who wish to pursue a career in music, public relations or media.
In turn, Savas said that they will be rewarded with a free concert ticket, free entry backstage, hands-on experience to organize one of the largest shows in live entertainment.
