East Tennessee State University (ETSU) in collaboration with Blackboard Mobile has created an app for iOS and Android mobile devices to provide information on courses, grades, events, campus maps, libraries, directories, athletics and other campus related news for staff members, students and non-ETSU members.

Blackboard Mobile is an innovative education-based technology making company.

Students, in particular, can access their respective grades, personal information, courses and course work. Also, professors' contact information is included along with the course to facilitate quick calls or emails.

"So if you're running late or you're not going to be at class... you can give" the professor a call," Daniel Vanzant, an electronic content developer at ETSU, told John City Press. "I've used it a lot. I'm a student as well as a staff member."

Rob Nelson, director of instructional television services at ETSU, told the newspaper that this app is useful for campus navigation. People can quickly locate a building, calculate distances between two locations and can indicate one's position in the campus.

Among various modules featured in the app, the athletics module offers information about each sport played at ETSU, their schedules and live score updates during a game play and the images module allows access to buildings and scenery on campus for prospective students.

The university officials are also planning to include a parking module to help people find parking spaces during the day and a bus module to know about BucShot's free shuttles on campus by Johnson City Transit.

Interested individuals can download this free app, 'blue logo with gold ETSU letters', either from iOS App Store or from Google play site for Android device users.

iOS device users can benefit from GPS-activated services that provides an audio- and video-guided campus tour.
