Avrette University has created two modern classrooms on its main campus that feature learning technologies such as ipads for students, smart boards for teachers and an Apple TV. And they are in the process of building the third one on North Campus this summer.

The third futuristic classroom will be the first of its kind in the north campus. The classroom will showcase current technology, a faculty station, ceiling mount LCD screen and furniture.

The costs to build each state-of-the-art classroom is $20,000, which is provided by the Community Foundation of the Dan River Region.

The university plans to make their students comfortable and aware of latest technology through these classrooms.

Sophomore Chad Davis, a teacher aspirant, told abc 13 that the new gadgets are really helpful in preparing him to teach the future generation.

"Students today learn and use technology very differently than we did in the past," Debbie Flinn, director of development for Averett told the channel.

Flinn, said that incorporating up-to-date technology in the classroom helps to attract and recruit more students and professors.

The university hopes to have 30 such classrooms to create a uniform experience for students across all the campuses.

These classroom renovations are part of the University's $25 million capital campaign.
