The National Institute for Social Media (NISM), is collaborating with Argosy University to provide certification courses in social media to students.

NISM's Certification Preparation Course is available to students studying bachelor's degree in liberal arts, business, psychology or criminal justice as an elective class.

They can either opt for live or online classes.

After completing the course the students are eligible to get three credits towards their graduation program.

NISM's 'Social Media Strategist Certification' preparation course will begin Feb 22 at Argosy University, Twin Cities, Eagan, MN. The classes will be held every Friday, till March, 22.

The program covers, strategic planning; compliance and governance; project management; social media marketing; community management and research and analysis.

Upon completion of the course, students would have acquired foundation skills required to use social media.

"Though social media is a relatively new phenomenon, it has had an enormous impact on businesses and society. We look forward to providing out students with the opportunity to bring certification in this field to their roles in their chosen professions," said Argosy University, Twin Cities Campus President Scott Tjaden.

This partnership is first of its kind that offers a social media certification and an extra degree credit.

Eric Mills, president of NISM said that individuals can attain maximum business or organizational impact by effective use of social media.
