While beating Maryland will be the key for Iowa's march to claim the Big Ten regular season title, Indiana is the more immediate test. The Hoosiers have one of the most efficient shooting offenses in the nation and have not lost a conference game at home this season.
Iowa has proven itself a tough road dog, however, suffering its only conference loss while visiting Maryland. Iowa has also gone more than a decade without winning the Big Ten regular season title, and now seem well positioned to do so.
"If you have good people who will work hard, you'll get better. We added some more. I think we've done a good job of fitting the pieces together in terms of position, what we needed, and they've continued to execute the game plan night in and night out," Iowa head coach Fran McCaffery said at a news conference. "I don't know that there's anything magical to it other than if you recruit good kids that work hard and believe in each other that you can win, even against the teams in this league, which is not easy."
