Two Princeton University seniors and a graduate, Erica Cao, Kaitlin Stouffer and David Kurz, have been selected for the Gates Cambridge Scholarship.

These students are part of the 39 finalists from the country chosen for the scholarship.

Every year, 90 students from all over the world are conferred this scholarship to pursue postgraduate studies at the University of Cambridge.

One of the recipients, Kurz, completed his graduation from the university, 2012, with an A.B. degree in ecology and evolutionary biology. He also secured a certificate in Spanish language and culture.

At Cambridge, Kurz will pursue masters in biological science in the Department of Zoology.

Once he finishes with his academics, he wishes to work at an academic, zoological or nonprofit institution to protect endangered fauna.

"David is an exceptionally gifted conservation ecologist with a very sharp mind, a keen interest in natural history, and an abiding love of tropical forests and the creatures within them," said Kurz's thesis adviser David Wilcove, and a professor of ecology and evolutionary biology and public affairs.

On the other hand, Cao, is planning to pursue a master's degree in music studies, specializing in music and science.

Cao, a piano player, said that the degree will allow her to study the intersections between music, psychology and clinical science.

In addition to this recognition, she also won the Department of Psychology's Howard Crosby Warren Junior Prize for her scholarly work and student character.

Cao's musical accomplishments include co-founding the student group 'Music in Mind' and organizing a 'Music, Mind and Medicine' program during a spring break. She even plays piano at local hospitals and was a member of an NGO 'Music is Medicine.'
