Two students from Rutgers University, Devinn Lambert and Kelvin Mei, have secured scholarships to pursue masters at University of Cambridge.
Overall, 39 students from the country have qualified for the scholarships out of 769 applicants, which are funded by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Students can pursue either doctoral or masters studies
The scholarships cover students' full-time fees and living expenses. The cost is about $38,000 each.
Both these students plan to study Masters of Philosophy degree - Lambert in plant sciences, while Mei in physics.
"These students have excellent academic records, research achievements on our campus and abroad, and the respect of their instructors, mentors and fellow students," Arthur Casciato, director of Rutgers' Office of Distinguished Fellowships said.
Apart from this scholarship, they have also attained Barry M. Goldwater Scholarships last year for excellence in mathematics, science and engineering.
Plus, Lambert and Mei were finalists of Marshall and Fulbright Grant scholarships, respectively.
Apart from Rutgers, two students each from Stanford and Yale universities have also been selected. Participation of students from Harvard and Princeton Universities (two Princeton seniors, one alumnus) is higher in this scholarship program.
