American Sentinel University, which runs distance learning degree and certificate courses, is now introducing five full- tuition scholarships in Master of Health Care Informatics (MHCI) program.
This program is applicable to individuals employed by the health system or health system support provider in the U.S.
Concerned individuals will gain skills in gathering, analyzing and presenting health care data to support clinical and administrative decision-making needs.
In turn, the data will help the health care organizations to create plans that reduce costs, improve workflow and undertake quality and safety initiatives.
"We recognize the importance of informatics in health care, not only in the practice of nursing, but in the realm of big data," Richard Oliver, Ph.D., and CEO of American Sentinel University said.
Oliver said that health care sectors are looking for skilled individuals for around 160,000-190,000 health care informatics jobs which will be available over the next few years.
The federal government's Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) urges health care organizations to improve their understanding of the costs of care and use data reports to increase efficiency of their services and patient's satisfaction.
If the cost of healthcare is left unchecked, it could rise 30 percent or more by 2050.
Applicants interested to enrol in this program must be graduate students and can submit the application on or before March 11.
The classes will begin April 5.
