John F. Kerry, U.S. Secretary of State, will speak at the University of Virginia, Feb 20. It is slated to be his first public speech after succeeding Hillary Clinton earlier this year.
He will speak on U.S. foreign policy and diplomacy at the University of Virginia, the State Department announced in a press statement.
Kerry will deliver his remarks at about 11 a.m. at the Old Cabell Hall.
"The University of Virginia is honored to host Secretary Kerry as he begins his tenure as our country's new Secretary of State," said U.Va. President Teresa A. Sullivan.
Kerry selected the university because of its unique place in American history. University of Virginia founder Thomas Jefferson served as the country's first Secretary of State.
State Department officials said Kerry's remarks here will be the first in a series of domestic addresses he plans to deliver as secretary to report to the American people about his discussions abroad and their impact back home.
Information about the ticket availability will be available on Monday,Feb 18.
