The Eastern Michigan University Marching Band will be featured on the nationally syndicated television show, "Ariel, Zoey, & Eli, Too," aired on Detroit Public Television, Friday, Feb. 15, said the university.
"Ariel, Zoey, & Eli, Too", which is in its third season, is a music variety show starring 14-year-old twins, Ariel and Zoey Engelbert, from Ann Arbor, and their 11-year-old brother Eli.
The show will feature the trio and the EMU Marching Band performing the show's theme song, "Sweet Company," filmed at the University's Rynearson Stadium, according to the university statement.
The program will also feature EMU officials, Amy Knopps, assistant professor and director of the EMU Marching Band and drum majors Jacob Nurse and Adam Sniezek. The officials will talk about the marching band and their student experiences as music education majors in Eastern's Department of Music and Dance.
The band, which was founded in 1894 by students of Michigan State Normal School, is a vital part of the musical heritage of the university. The crew comprises of nearly 180 students and musicians. The marching band supports EMU athletes and various venues throughout southeastern Michigan.
The students and musicians perform for all home football games and travel to several away games each year. They are also active in Homecoming, Band Day and national marching band festivals, and have performed in Detroit's nationally-syndicated Thanksgiving Day Parade, said the university.
