The American Military University has signed a MOA with the U.S. Coast Guard last month to support research projects on maritime homeland security issues.

This memorandum helps students from security and global studies programs to gain knowledge, skills, and research materials from Coast Guard subject matter experts to successfully complete their capstone projects.

The Coast Guards will also work with students' faculty advisors to choose a research topic and provide a description of project outcomes.

Joint research in maritime homeland security issues can lead to projects of mutual interest under supervision in the future.

The MOAs with educational institutions result in sharing of expertise between the academic, federal and military communities for enhancing national security objectives.

The American Public University System (APUS) is a private for profit, online institution that is comprised of the American Military University and the American Public University.

Altogether, APUS offers 87 online degree programs through these two universities. As a result, around, 10, 000 working professionals have been able to secure degrees in a variety of subjects.

Due to its quality, relevance, affordability and flexible curriculum, APUS has been conferred with the Sloan Consortium's 2009 Ralph E. Gomory Award and is also a two-time recipient of Effective Practices Award. APUS has helped more than 100,000 working adults worldwide pursue degrees in diverse subjects.
