Las Vegas has its first set of betting odds for the 2016 Heisman Trophy and, though they should be taken with a grain of salt, here they are, courtesy of the Bovada sportsbook.

1. DeShaun Watson, QB, Clemson: 9/2

2. Leonard Fournette, RB, LSU: 5/1

3. Christian McCaffrey, RB, Stanford: 5/1

4. J.T. Barrett, QB, Ohio State: 10/1

5. Baker Mayfield, QB, Oklahoma: 10/1

6. Nick Chubb, RB, Georgia: 12/1

7. Dalvin Cook, RB, Florida State: 12/1

8. Royce Freeman, RB, Oregon: 12/1

9. Chad Kelly: QB, Ole Miss: 12/1

10. Samaje Perine, RB, Oklahoma: 12/1

The glaring issue here is the same as it was this time last year. As CBS Sports pointed out, Las Vegas' top seven for Heisman odds last Jan. were Ezekiel Elliott, Dak Prescott, Leonard Fournette, Trevone Boykin, Cody Kessler, Nick Chubb, and Paul Perkins. None even finished in the top five.

Predictably so, predicting Heisman odds this early is wound to result in projecting the award to go to a quarterback or a running back, since those are the two most positions that win the award most of the time.

Regardless, it would be hard to imagine McCaffrey and Watson not returning as finalists given how good they and their teams were last season. But there is bound to be a wide receiver or a defensive player that at least makes case to be a finalist.
