Lovely Professional University (LPU), Punjab, India, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with four U.S. universities to strengthen research and development activities between the educational institutes.
The four universities are Iowa State University (ISU), University of Iowa (UI), University of Northern Iowa (UNI) and Kirkwood Community College (KCC).
A 21-memeber delegation from these universities confirmed the agreement on Saturday. It is so far the biggest delegation from the U.S. to visit Punjab.
"The agreement seeks to promote quality education and boost research culture amongst students of respective countries by conceivable academic, cultural, extracurricular and other collaborative projects/assignments," LPU Chancellor Ashok Mittal told Times of India.
There will be focus on areas of academic and administrative personnel exchange, and developing research proposals, joint degree programs that allow students to undertake part of the program at each institution.
As a result, 50 students from LPU will visit these universities for their research projects in the next academic session.
The research projects will be carried out in areas such as agriculture, engineering, pharmacy, business & education.
Plus, the MoU aims to promote entrepreneurship, start-up projects and short-duration study programmes
Mittal also said that the universities will conduct several workshops and promote co-curricular and community development activities of common interest.
Apart from this agreement, LPU has signed MoU's with the U.K., Canada, Australia, and Singapore.
