Nelson Migdal and Tara Gorman, of the international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, will join the faculty of the inaugural Hospitality and Tourism Law Program at American University Washington College of Law.
The course curriculum of the program includes a broad overview of the industry and even on-site visits to get a hang of backend activities. It will also cover a broad range of related complex legal issues.
"We are excited about the opportunity and the idea of inspiring students to pursue a rewarding career in the hospitality and tourism industries," Migdal said.
The Hospitality and Tourism Law program is a credit based summer program, held from June17-21.
The classes will be held both in the morning and evening for law students and for attorneys interested in seeking alternative careers in hotel law and in-house counsel.
Introduction to Hospitality and Tourism Law course offers an analysis of complex legal issues featured in hospitality sector - licensing and franchise rights, tort liability and business formation.
The next course - Franchise, Licensing, and Management Agreements teaches students the complex issues involved in the basic elements required to operate hotels such as negotiations, deals and contract drafting.
The last course in the summer program is Gaming, Resorts, and Advanced Topics. Almost all the hotels across the country have gaming and resort centers. Lectures discuss the possible issues that arise from these centers- hotel torts; alcoholic beverage regulation; federal, state, and local regulation and Indian and Tribal gaming.
