William Boulding, 57, has been selected to serve a full term of five years as dean of Duke Fuqua School of Business.

"It is an extraordinary honor and privilege to be a part of Fuqua and the broader Duke community," Boulding said.

Earlier, Boulding served as the interim-dean following the resignation of Blair Sheppard in 2011.

"Boulding combines powerful idealism about what business schools can do for the world with immense practical skill in executing toward these goals," Duke President Richard H. Brodhead said.

Boulding started his career with Duke in 1984. He was the J.B. Fuqua Professor of Business Administration.

His academic qualifications include a bachelor's degree from Swarthmore College and Ph.D. in marketing from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.

Boulding is an expert in marketing and management and has been credited with writing one of the 20 most influential papers over the past 25 years in the field of marketing.

He has also been conferred the Bank of America Award and Fuqua's highest faculty honor for excellence in teaching.

The 'Financial Times' described him as 'a Fuqua man through and through.'
