Alfred University's career development center will host its annual Internship and Summer Job Fair Feb.15 at Powell Campus Center Knight Club.

The fair timings are from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Around 50 organizations are expected to participate in the fair.

This fair is an annual feature at the University and the aim is to engage their students in a productive way during summers.

Internships and summer jobs not only help students gain extra knowledge about their respective subjects but also help them find better jobs with better salaries than their peers.

Plus, students can also make money depending upon the programs and companies they are associated with.

If the students are successful in impressing the company's management with their professional skills, abilities and attitude during the internships, they might even secure a permanent job with the same company.

In order to get recruited in good companies, concerned students are requested to be dressed in business or professional attire and bring in several copies of their resumes.

They should also do a thorough research of the companies participating in the Job Fair.

Students can select interested companies from the lot and interact with those officials in detail rather than approaching each and every stall and getting unsatisfactory information.

Organizations registered at the fair include: ACCORD Corp., Allegany County; Allegany Arc; Allegany County Probation Department; Allegany County Sheriff's Office, Alford Lake Camp, American Cancer Society, the American Red Cross and Southwestern New York.
