Two students from the Eastern Michigan University have designed an iOS app for people who lease vehicles to help maintain track of the mileage.

Many lose track of mileage and they can use the LeaseCrunch app to help them keep a tab.

LeaseCrunch was developed by Jordan Brown and Ross Johnson.

The app is only made for iOS devices like iPhones, iPads and iPods.

"You punch in your lease terms and then anytime you update your mileage, the app tells you if you're over or under based on where you should be in the life of your lease," said Brown in a press release, who, along with Johnson, created the Ann Arbor based start-up, Spork, LLC.

LeaseCrunch was released in March 2012. Nearly 500 people have already bought the app, which costs just $1.99 to purchase from the iTunes store. According to Brown, the app is totally worth it.

Brown opined that this app is a necessity, if one leases a car and has an iPhone. "It's as simple as that. It's worth the $1.99 to know whether or not you're going over on your mileage and how to adjust your driving habits accordingly," he added.

Brown said that the idea of creating such an app came as he was thinking of leasing a car but was worried about keeping track of mileage in a spreadsheet.

"Mileage obviously isn't something I wanted to ignore," said Brown. "That's when I decided that I wanted the ability to do all of this in the palm of my hand. As an iPhone user, an iOS app was the obvious solution."
