Students securing scholarships is a dream come true for parents as half of their financial burden is off from their shoulders. Social welfare associations, non-government organizations, colleges and universities announce scholarships every year to turn this dream into a reality.
The academic year 2013 also features an array of scholarships for aspiring students.
Golden LEAF Scholarship in North Carolina offers $12,000 in scholarship for four years and financial assistance of $3,000 per year. In order to qualify for this scholarship, the student must be a high school senior or a community college transfer student and a resident of the county.
Plus, the applicant should come from a relatively low financial background and must enrol himself/herself in any of the North Carolina Institutions. The necessary application forms should be submitted on or before March.1
This scholarship is funded by the Golden LEAF Foundation and administered by North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority.
Bob Fryer Memorial Scholarship worth $5,000 is only applicable for students who wish to pursue a career in Journalism. Press Club is funding this scholarship and aims to rope in more students for print and broadcasting courses.
Interested students must be residents of western Pennsylvania and must be high school graduates from any prestigious university or school. The last date to submit the application is Feb.1.
