Three girls from Malawi, located in southeast Africa, have secured seats at Troy University in Alabama for four years.

They were awarded scholarships by President Joyce Banda, supported by the 100X Development Foundation, a non-government organization based in the U.S.

The three girls are all aged 16.

The NGO's commitment to changing the live of women and children of Malawi was commended by the President.

Banda told Nyasa Times that the country required such international projects for students to attain higher education and bring a positive change among people.

This project was discussed between Dana Blanchard,100X Development Foundation country director and the president during the U.N. General Assembly in September 2012.

Blanchard told Nyasa Times that Troy University is one of the best universities in the country and advised the students to work hard and make their country proud.

Earlier, these three girls scored second place in the Zodiak scholarship. Students who topped the exam were sent to People Republics of China for further studies.
