Clemson head football coach Dabo Swinney pulled in another national coach of the year honor, this time from the Associated Press.
The AP's voters, who produce the weekly Top 25 Poll, named Swinney the Coach of the Year with 35 of a possible 60 votes.
Following Swinney was:
Iowa's Kirk Ferentz - 10 votes
Michigan State's Mark Dantonio and Houston's Tom Hermann - five each
Oklahoma's Bob Stoops - three
Notre Dame's Brian Kelly and Florida's Jim McElwain - one each.
"I am very honored to receive the AP National Coach of the Year award," Swinney told the AP. "Football is a great team sport and any individual honor is a result of having a great group of players and staff. I am blessed to have student-athletes and coaches that believe in what we do. This award is a reflection of their hard work and commitment."
Head coach of the undefeated, consensus number-one Tigers, Swinney has won at least three other major coach of the year awards: from the Maxwell Football Club, Walter Camp, and at the Home Depot's College Football Awards show.
"After seven years of beating the drum, our foundation has taken root," Swinney told the AP last month. "I have to continue to protect that culture. And you do that through every decision that you make. Staying true to who you are.
"You do that through the people that you hire. You do that through discipline. You do that through recruiting. More importantly you do that through walking it every day. I've had 120 seniors and 114 graduates. That's uncommon. That's not the norm. That's my scorecard. I'm more proud of that than anything."
