An armed male was taken into custody Thursday at Arkansas State University (ASU) after a standoff with police that concluded with no reported injuries.

In fact, ASU stated in a news alert the man had not fired any shots after driving a pickup truck into the middle of the school's campus, toward the "east side of Reng Student Union." The school was placed on lockdown, and remained on lockdown by 4 p.m., when the school confirmed the man was in police custody.

ASU also cancelled the school's remaining exams scheduled Thursday and delayed them for next Wednesday. Police were searching the truck and noticed what may have been propane tanks in the truck's bed.

"Our guys are going to make sure the truck is safe before it's moved," Jonesboro Police Department spokesman Paul Holmes told The Arkansas Democrat Gazette.

With the armed man in custody with no shots and fired and no one reported injured, ASU's campus is apparently safe. However, school and law enforcement officials are operating with caution. Around 4:30, ASU lifted its lockdown everywhere on campus except the student union's eastern side, but the campus will remain closed for the day.

"Campus police and Jonesboro authorities are handling it for now," Bill Sadler, a state police spokesman, told Reuters. "The Arkansas State Police is standing by if assistance is needed."
