Two University of Texas football players were suspended and sent home Friday ahead of the Valero Alamo Bowl, said coach Mack Brown in a news conference.
The players were sent home after they were accused of sexually assaulting a woman. Meanwhile, the accused players' names were not revealed yet.
"This has been reported: We had a couple young men that broke team rules last night. They have been suspended from the team and they will be sent home," Brown said, according to KENS 5 in a news conference.
Brown refrained from answering the question whether the players in question were starters. He said he would meet with the team this afternoon to explain the situation and "then you move forward. You have policies that you go by," according to ESPN.
Meanwhile, he also refused to take up any questions from the press crops present at the conference, except for confirming accused players' suspension.
"They will not be available for the game and I will not address any more questions in that matter," he said.
So far, no arrests have been made in connection with the case. Press reports confirm that two players of Texas were involved in harassing a woman at a San Antonio hotel, following a late night party.
A woman told police she met the two UT players out partying overnight and invited them back to her room at the Holiday Inn. She later made the allegations of sexual assault to police, reported KENS 5.
